Bruce Rogers Choral Festival

Choral music filled the Shelton State Community
College campus throughout the day Saturday.

High school and college students spent
the day with a nationally known conductor from California's Mount San Antonio Community
College.

Bruce Rogers led the “Bruce Rogers Choral
Festival,” ending with a grand finale in the Bean-Brown Theatre.

Alberta School Open House

The Alberta School of Performing Arts
held an Open House from 2:00 to 4:00 Sunday afternoon.

Parents were able to get familiar with
the school and the art programs it offers.

Alberta Elementary School was destroyed
in the 2011 tornado.

The new school was rebuilt in the same
location, and opened in December of 2014.

Principal Brenda Parker told WVUA she
hopes the programs will help students appreciate art throughout their lives. ...Read more

Winfield Fatal Crash

A single car crash killed a Winfield
man Saturday afternoon around 4:30.

It happened on Marion County 69 about
one mile south of Winfield.

State Troopers tell WVUA 87 year old Mack
Dodd, Jr., was walking in the road when he was hit by a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer.

The driver of the car was not injured and
did stay on the scene.

State Troopers continue to investigate
the crash.

national headlines Saturday morning at First United Methodist Church.

The 10-4 Corporation hosted a
community forum focused on improving the relationship between citizens and law
enforcement.

Tuscaloosa County Sheriff Ron Abernathy,
Tuscaloosa Police Chief Steve Anderson and Northport interim Police Chief Gerald
Burton made up the first panel.

They talked about how to react to
police when questioned and curbing youth violence, among other topics. ...Read more

Baby Palooza

The annual Baby Palooza tour made a
stop in Tuscaloosa Saturday at the Bryant Conference Center...

Moms, dads and kids showed up to check
out all the vendors, speakers and hands-on lessons.

The event also had games and
activities, a "mom lounge" and even on-site sonograms.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama
sponsors Baby Palooza, which tours to eight other cities across the state.

Event director Cecilia Pearson says
there are lots of parents in the area looking for answers to their baby

UNCF Fundraiser - Stillman

Saturday night with its first official fundraising event of 2015.

The school held the annual United Negro
College Fund Super Viewing Party Saturday night at the Wynn Center.

Donors, alumni, and college friends
took time to contribute scholarships to help students complete their education.
