At the Tuscaloosa County Courthouse, dozens of people gathered in celebration of the Supreme Court ruling in favor of same-sex marriage, but no marriage licenses were issued to same-sex couples.
Jennifer Kenney and Hali Felt were nervous yet hopeful as they walked into the Probate Office to get their marriage license.
They presented identification, social security cards and had their $44.00 in hand.

A gas leak shut down parts of the Univeristy of Alabama Thursday afternoon.
UA Media Relation's Shane Dorrill announced the leak detection just before 3 p.m.
Authorities shutdown Hackberry Lane and Sixth Avenue for safety.
As a precaution Lloyd, Nott, Galalee and Mary Harmon Bryant Halls were evacuted temporarily.
Students, faculty and staff were allowed back into the buildings by 3:30 p.m.
At this time there's no word on what cause the leak.
Investigators learned that the 49 year old black female, Ruby Howard, has died at UAB hospital from injuries sustained in the house fire earlier this morning at the 800 Block of 34th Avenue in Tuscaloosa.
The 19 year old female is still listed in critical condition.

TUSCALOOSA - A 66-year-old man is fighting for his life after investigators say he was assaulted Wednesday night in Tuscaloosa.

TUSCALOOSA - A man is behind bars after investigators say he raped two women at the La Quinta Inn Wednesday morning in Tuscaloosa.
The 23 and 27-year old victims told investigators 25-year-old Deandrea Thomas threatened them with a gun and forced the pair to have sex with him in their hotel room. The victims said Thomas later forced them to leave the hotel and drive him to a residence on the

Laranden Perry is convicted of murdering Rico Barnes in January of 2013. After hearing from both families today, Judge Jim Roberts denied Perry's application for parole. Perry hung his head and wiped tears away as his family and attorney spoke about how he deserves a second chance.Barnes father and two sisters were extremely emotional as well describing their life without Rico as the hardest years of their lives.We spoke with the victim's sister Laquishia today who says the parole denial brought some relief, but nothing will ever bring back her brother.
Proposed statewide budget cuts have Alabamians concerned about the possibility of state parks closing. Northport city leaders and the West Alabama Chamber of Commerce met to discuss a possible plan for Lake Lurleen State Park. That meeting however was not open to the public. The state has not made a decision on whether or not they will close the state park. Tuscaloosa County homicide has identified the two bodies found on Greenview Drive in West Tuscaloosa as 60-year-old Rosa Busby, and 48-year-old Roger Creer. Family members tell investigators Busby and Creer were involved in a relationship and were living together at the residence where they died. There appears to have been a domestic incident between the couple just before the shooting. Authorities believe Creer shot Busby then shot himself. ...Read more
