Burying Domestic Violence

A local non-profit partnered with a church in Moundville to remember victims of domestic violence. Love More, Inc. and Hightown Church of God held a memorial service Sunday to raise awareness about domestic violence. A casket and hearse were present at the service to remind attendees of the possible deadly outcomes. The service also included a eulogy for victims who have died.

When patients with blood cancers need a transplant, they require donors with a matching tissue type instead of blood type.
Another registry drive is being held in Bibb County on November 16th at Pine View Baptist Church.

Upgrades to Pickens County Schools

The Pickens County Board of Education recently approved a new capital improvement plan which is making upgrades to the school system possible. Pickens County Superintendent of Education, Jamie Chapman, says the majority of their plan focuses on maintaining and upgrading what they already have.

Northport Burglary Arrest

(WVUA) A Call to Northport Police about a suspicious person leads to a burglary arrest. 

Northport Police located the suspicious person identified as 23 year old Joshua Paul Sanford of Northport in the Bellwood subdivision. 

While officers were talking to Sanford they got a burglary call from a home in the 2300 block of 22nd street. 

During an investigation enough probable cause was found to arrest Sanford for the crime.  ...Read more

Attempted Kidnapper Arrested

Authorities have arrested a man they say tried to kidnap a University of Alabama student on her walk home down 10th Avenue.That man is 32 year old Gabriel Dorsett Sealy of Tuscaloosa.Sealy has been charged with Kidnapping I, Robbery I, and Assault III.He's been booked into the Tuscaloosa County jail on a $126,000 bond.

We may be a couple days away from
Halloween, but lots of local children got all dressed up to celebrate the
holiday at the University of Alabama. WVUA's Emileigh Forrester paid a visit to
the scary ghosts and goblins, and the not so scary princesses and puppies.

 

While some kids chose
cute costumes, others chose to be creepy.

 

Now, whether trick-or-treaters
were dressed as superheroes, or hippies, or even a Disney characters, most
everybody agreed the gathering was a service to the community.
