Triple Shooting

ENSLEY -- Authorities are investigating a shooting that left one woman dead and two other people injured. The triple shooting happened in Ensley early Sunday morning. Authorities are not sure what led to the shooting on the 1600 block of Avenue I.


When police arrived, a woman was found lying face down with a gunshot wound to her back. Two other victims were taken to the University of Alabama Birmingham hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

BIRMINGHAM -- Authorities are investigating a shocking crime after they say a man set his estranged girlfriend on fire. Just after 2:30 Sunday morning, deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a house fire in the 4400 block of Nellie Anderson Street. They arrived to find a 49-year-old female victim with extensive burns to her head, arms, upper body, and legs. MCCALLA -- Authorities in Jefferson County are looking for a suspect they say set a church on fire in McCalla. The blaze happened early Saturday morning at Bellview Baptist Church. Jefferson County Sheriff Office officials say they are investigating the fire as arson.


According to the Sheriff's office, around 1:30 a.m. deputies were responding to a burglary alarm on Eastern Valley Road when they got a call that a white male was pouring gas on the front of the church and set it on fire. ...Read more

Freedom Festival

Greene County held it's Freedom Festival Sunday July 27, 2014 at the National Guard Armory in Eutaw, Al.


The event was aimed at bringing the community together and to celebrate equal political involvement for African-Americans and remembering crusaders who paid great sacrifices in the fight for equal rights.


Festivites also included food, music and games along with speeches by state, county and local elected officals.


Reverend Thomas Filmore, Sr., from Birmingham headlined the event as the keynote speaker.

Eagles Wings Christmas In July

COKER -- Eagle's Wings in Coker held their "Christmas in July" fundraiser in their new facility on Sunday July 27, 2014. The event featured plenty of Christmas knick-knacks for sale, a festive Christmas tree, and of course, Christmas cookies and punch! 


Executive assistant Beck Johnson said that she was very pleased with how the event came together and that their location in convenient for supporters.

Hot Hundred Bike Race

More than 600 riders showed up for Saturday's Hot Hundred Bike Race. The event hopes to raise between 25-30 thousand dollars for the Tuscaloosa Mental Health Alliance.

Hair, Etc. on Patriot Parkway in Tuscaloosa wants to help your kids look great for their first day of school, and battle multiple sclerosis with their Back to School Bash.
